WALL ST.

After making a pit stop at Macy's for some shopping, I headed down to Wall St. Here I am almost getting hit by the "Charging Bull"...a symbol of aggressive Financial Optimism and Prosperity. Then, I visited the Federal Hall, where George Washington took the Oath of Office as President of the United States of America!

The Art of Medicine

My first attending who I worked with in Internal Medicine, described and demonstrated the Art of Medicine. She is an expert in her field and I was very happy to have the opportunity to work with her for two weeks. I never thought of myself as an artist, but practicing the Art of Medicine...I like it... I like it a lot.

Internal Medicine...2 weeks in....

I think I found my niche...it's more than a feeling :) It just fits! Although I have been only doing IM for 2 weeks, I love it already!!! I get to work with many types of patients who present with a constellation of symptoms. I mostly deal with people who have histories of Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertention and Dyslipidemia. People with episodes of chest pain, syncope (fainting), abdominal pain, fever...and the list continues. I have learned the importance of taking an extremely detailed history and physical assessment of a patient. I still have a long road ahead of me to become a great doctor, but sure learning how to become one.

Happy New Year!!

I've always had a positive outlook on life..it keeps me going :) I am ready for another big year in medical school. I am happy to be done with my OB/GYN rotation at Lutheran Medical Center. While I assisted in interesting surgeries and I met some awesome med students, the rotation was pretty much a dud. So much for learning on the floor in that rotation! Thank goodness we have lots of books to read for our clinical subject exams!! ok, Internal Medicine I am ready for you...here we go!
